Getting A Kitten? Introducing it and looking after it?

It is not unusual for a cat to mourn the loss of a housemate. The common changes are loss of appetite and disinterest in normal interactions and activities. When they begin to return to some normal activities, they are probably beginning to get better. Although cats are social and do live with other cats, they often bond strongly to a particular cat. This does not always mean that they want another cat to live with them. The first step in this decision is to take your cat to the veterinarian to be sure that something else is not causing the lack of appetite and poor condition. Next it often helps to try and engage the cat in something new, perhaps grooming time, play time or even a special food treat. Once she begins to return to her normal behavior, then it might be a good time to consider a new kitten.
