Filling out my fafsa, confused on a question here.. help!?

You should do your FAFSA the closest to Jan 1, when you can start applying for FAFSA every year. You DO NOT wait to do your taxes. You use last years taxes 2009. Answer the tax question will file. Then answer all the rest of the questions and submit. Then you do your taxes as soon as you can and when you log onto FAFSA once it says processed within a couple weeks, there will be a option to choose make corrections. Click that and the you correct it and put in the 2010 tax info and re submit. Why? Because colleges are given limited funding for aid and also if colleges offer their own grants from the school all of these are limited and they are given first come first serve.
