Should I stay or should I go?

I've been married for five years to a guy who loves me but talks to other women online. We haven't had in four years because of his back or his father's death or stress etc. He says our marriage is a happy one, I think we've weathered storms. He has little control of his temper and when we fight, I hear insults that cut me down with words I think no person should say to another let alone to his wife. When I try to reason, he gets angrier and more verbally abusive and tells me that I am pushing him to loose control. Most of these arguments end with me crying miserably and him derisively noting that women are all manipulative and miserable. No means we have no kids. He controls our finances, which are in shambles. He apologizes a lot, buys me clothes and things constantly (his way of showing love), is very attentive and tells me to have faith in him. Can you please give me perspective?
